8CAV Screw Cap Mould Design Considerations for Buyers

An 8CAV screw cap mould must produce threaded caps that close consistently across every cavity. Buyers should evaluate more than cavity count. Thread fit, sealing torque, gate balance, cooling, ejection, and maintenance access all affect whether the cap can run at high output without leakage or assembly problems.

For portion cups, small containers, and threaded lids, the cap and matching cup should be reviewed together. A cap mould can meet its own drawing and still fail in production if the thread, sealing surface, or shrinkage behavior does not match the container.

Thread and Sealing Requirements

The cap drawing should define thread profile, pitch, start position, sealing land, tamper or grip feature if needed, and the acceptable closing torque. Buyers should provide matching cup or container samples so the mould supplier can check real assembly conditions before steel cutting.

If the cap will be used for sauce, samples, medical portion packaging, or other leak-sensitive products, trial checks should include filling, tightening, inversion, transport handling, and storage conditions. These tests are more useful than visual inspection alone.

Runner Balance Across Eight Cavities

An 8-cavity cap mould needs balanced filling so every cap has consistent weight, thread definition, and shrinkage. Hot runner selection, gate position, venting, and flow path should be planned around the resin grade and cap geometry.

During mould trial, buyers should inspect samples from all eight cavities. Weight variation, flash, incomplete thread formation, gate marks, and uneven gloss can reveal balance problems that become expensive during long production runs.

Cooling, Ejection, and Cycle Stability

Caps with threads can deform if cooling is uneven or ejection is too aggressive. The mould should protect thread accuracy while still allowing fast release and stable cycle time. Air assist, stripper design, surface finish, and draft angle should be confirmed during design review.

Cooling layout affects both output and cap function. If the cap leaves the mould too hot or unevenly cooled, torque and sealing fit may change after packing. The agreed cycle time should be proven with stable cap dimensions after cooling.

Acceptance Data to Request

Before accepting an 8CAV screw cap mould, request trial samples from every cavity, part-weight records, thread and torque checks, sealing test results, machine parameters, water-circuit information, spare-part list, and maintenance notes.

A strong screw cap mould design gives buyers repeatable closure performance, not just high shot count. The best tooling plan connects cap geometry, container fit, resin, machine, automation, and acceptance tests before the project reaches mass production.
